It can be said that within the Azande culture the individual homestead of each couple and their children is to be able to focus on the economic system. The construction and maintenance of homes are considered to be constant occupations, especially when it comes to owing to the toll that is taken on them by weather, animals, insects and fast growing vegetation. The homes are built of mud and grass framed on wooden poles and thatched with grass. It has also been observed that each household unit has a granary for storing millet. The houses are built around courtyards which includes some of the ideal places for conversation and gathering. These enclosed courtyards can be seen as a window into the household life.
